Study in China

China is where UM International began. Our first university partnership started in 2008, and today we run a registered office in Guangzhou alongside our head office in Islamabad, so students are supported on both ends of the journey.

Why students choose China

Established universities

China has a large number of long-established public universities, several of which teach selected degrees in English for international students.

Medicine and engineering depth

Medical, engineering and technology programs are where Chinese universities have invested heavily, with teaching hospitals and laboratories attached to many campuses.

Manageable costs

Tuition and living costs are often lower than in the UK, USA or Australia. Exact fees depend on the university and program, and we share the current fee sheet before you apply.

A second language that matters

Students learn Mandarin alongside their degree. HSK certification is part of many programs and becomes useful in clinical years and later careers.

Programs available

We place students in degree, foundation and language programs. Each program has its own page with entry requirements and the universities that offer it.

International student life

Students live in university dormitories or approved accommodation close to campus. Our China team helps with arrival, registration, residence permit formalities and settling in.

We stay in contact with families throughout the degree. If there are academic or disciplinary concerns, parents hear about them from us directly and early.

Scholarships: what to expect

Scholarships in China exist, including Chinese government and university awards, but they are competitive and program-specific. Full scholarships for English-taught MBBS are rare, and we will tell you plainly if an offer that sounds too good to be true is being advertised.

When I approached UM International back in 2011 I was a bit worried about my admission and living in China. Everything went smooth, including issuance of visa, travelling to China and provision of accommodation. Even after admission he was always there to help us in any manner he can. I ended up having an elder brother who is still in contact with me even after 5 years of my graduation.

Starting with my eldest sister, to me and then my two younger ones. There's no other firm or agency I'd trust more. I myself needed some help with documents 2 years after my graduation and this firm was just one call away.

Questions about Study in China

Is China a good option for Pakistani students?

For medicine, engineering and technology, China offers established public universities at costs that many families can plan for. The right choice depends on your marks, budget and the recognition you need at home, which is what our first consultation covers.

When are the intakes?

Most degree programs start in September. Some universities run a March foundation intake that leads into the September degree start. We confirm dates for each university and year.

Do I need to know Chinese before I go?

Not for English-taught programs. You will study Mandarin during your degree, and some programs require HSK levels by certain years.

Does UM International have staff in China?

Yes. Guangzhou UM Consulting Co., Ltd. is our registered entity in China, and our leadership travels regularly to partner campuses.

Can you verify your university authorizations?

Yes. Our authorization letters from partner universities are published on our Study in China website, and we share them in consultation on request.
