Study in Germany

Germany's public universities charge little or no tuition in most states, which makes them attractive and competitive. Entry depends on your prior qualifications being recognised as equivalent.

What to know

Tuition

Most public universities charge only a semester fee. Some states, such as Baden-Württemberg, charge tuition to non-EU students.

Entry qualification

Pakistani intermediate certificates often do not give direct entry to bachelor's programs, so a foundation year (Studienkolleg) or prior university study may be needed.

Proof of funds

Student visa applicants usually show funds through a blocked account. The required amount is set by German authorities each year.

Typical requirements

  • Recognised school or bachelor's qualification
  • German or English language evidence depending on the program
  • Blocked account or other accepted proof of funds
  • Health insurance
  • University admission letter

Visa rules, fees and post-study work options change often. We confirm the current rules with you at the time of application rather than relying on figures published online.
